The Kent County Special Operations Team (hosted by the Cheswold Volunteer Fire Company) has placed in service a DJI Phantom 4 Pro drone. This Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) will be used for search and rescue, damage assessment, situational awareness during incidents, and documentation. As far as we know, this drone is the first to be placed in service by a fire company in Delaware. We have one fully licensed pilot and are training several others now. We have also purchased a second, larger drone that will have thermal imaging capability. The drone made an appearance at the Kent County Fire Chiefs Association meeting this past week in Marydel and then during boat training in Leipsic.
