Life Member Phil Messina has passed away. Phil joined the fire company in the late 1940's and was active for many years. He held several offices and was one of the first firefighters to be trained in first aid when Cheswold began ambulance service in 1950. He was employed as a union carpenter and enjoyed retirement with his wife Mickey and their family. They stayed at their Pickering Beach cottage during the summer months and loved to travel as well. Mickey passed away in November of 2007. Phil is survived by his son Phil, Jr. and his wife Yvonne, his son Leon and his wife Ann, four grandchildren, and two great grand children. The viewing will be at Traders Funeral Home on Lotus Street in Dover on Wednesday May 28 from 6 to 8 PM. The funeral will also be at Traders on Thursday May 29 at 11 AM.
