Engine 43-1 is Sold! - Cheswold Fire StationThursday, July 2, 2015
At 19:45 hrs engine 43-1 was driven away from the Cheswold fire co. It was sold to Erik Brecht of Pennsylvania. Several members were on hand to see the old engine off.
Engine 43-1 was bought in 1971 and served many years as the supply engine. It served for 2 years as the attack engine after the old 43-2 was damaged in a severe collision. Many of us have fond memories of riding engine 1 such as:
-Getting soaked on the back step when tank water came out of the hatch on sharp turns
-Jamming into the jumpseat trying to put on an air pack
-The old "gumball machine" red light on the cab before we switched to light bars
-Our first truck painted white
