Fed Ex discovers house fire - Cheswold
Thursday, July 2, 2015
A Fed Ex driver noticed smoke coming from a house on McKee Road just outside of the Cheswold town limits and called Kent County 911. Cheswold and Leipsic (53) were dispatched immediately. 43-2 responded and was advised that this was believed to be a working alarm and that Dover (46) had an engine crew available. Engine 43-2 arrived to find smoke showing from a single-story home. Chief Roy (43-15) assumed command and advised Kent Center to have the engine from Dover respond.
The crew of 43-2 entered the house with a hose line while the driver hooked up to the hydrant in front of the home. The crew found and extinguished the fire. Crews from other Cheswold apparatus, Leipsic, and Dover assisted with overhaul.
Units on scene: 43-2, 43-4, 43-6, A-43, 53-5, 53-2, Tanker 53, and 46-3. Delaware State Fire Marshal Bullock is investigating the cause.
Chief Roy had command.
