The officers and members of the Cheswold Fire Company are mouning the loss of LIfe Member Howard Killen, Jr. He was affectionately known as Sonny or Suds to his many friends. Sonny served this fire company for many years and held nearly every office including President, Ambulance Chief, and Deputy Fire Chief. He also served on many important committees that involved the purchase of fire and ambulance apparatus and major additions to our building. One of his most recent contributions to the company was planting the seed for the idea of the Sportsmans Show that we held this past year and was a huge success.
Sonny also served as an active Fire Policeman in recent years.
One of his many accomplishments was holding the office of President of the Delaware State Ambulance Association. Sonny will be remembered here in Kent County as a pioneer in the EMS field.
Those who knew him will recall his lively sense of humor and his love of life. He will be deeply missed.
Visitation with the family will be on Sunday, September 14 from 1 pm to 3 pm at the Cheswold Fire House. This will be followed by a memorial service.
