On September 24, the Cheswold Fire Company hosted a bill signing ceremony coordinated by the Delaware Volunteer Firefighter's Association.  Governor Markell signed several bills in to law pertaining to the Fire/EMS service in Delaware:

House Bill 315, House Bill 317, and Senate Bill 207 related to methods to fund EMS service delivery.

House Bill 372 which is the Hometown Heroes legislation that brings Delaware into alignment with most states on what is classified as a Line of Duty Death in emergency services.

Several other legislators were there, including our local delagation of Senator Ennis, Senator Lawson, Representative Carson, and Representative Paradee.
