Cheswold was alerted to a tractor trailer on fire behind Walmart around 1:30 pm.  Deputy Chief Dempsey arrived in the command vehicle to find the tractor fully involved and the front of the trailer on fire as well.  Rescue 43 arrived about the same time and dropped a supply line and laid into the area of the fire.  The crew deployed two hand lines to extinguish the fire.  This was a long incident due to the type of cargo carried and the difficulty in accessing the trailer.  Assistance was requested from Leipsic and Dover Fire Departments as well as DNREC for the fuel in the truck, DELDOT for a piece of equipment to pull apart the trailer, and Dover Air Force Base Fire Department for class A foam (not used).
