Cheswold participated in the annual Delaware Volunteer Fireman's Association Conference parade in Dover. The day started early with pre-judging of A-43 & 43-2 at Dover High. Next, we were on our way to line up when 43-3 stalled and had to be jumpstarted. After the parade we all gathered at the break up area to socialize with our fellow firefighters from across the state and await the judges results. The ambulance was the first winner. It was judged to be the best in the state as it has for the past several years. Our Ladies Aux. earned their first trophy in many years as they finished 8th out of all of the ladies marching units. They have marched in the last three parades and their hard work finally paid off. The firemen also took home 8th best appearing without music. This is the latest in a string of marching trophies since 2002. Parade victories are hard won for Cheswold because much of our labor the week before the parade goes to serving over 400 firefighters and guests at the Delaware State Fire Chiefs meeting that we host each year. A big thanks goes out to the Neptune Fire Company of Lebanon County, PA that has stood by for us each year since 2002. They are led each time by Chief Stan and guided by our own Past Chief Charlie Brown.
