Just after midnight, Cheswold was alerted to a trailer fire in Pinewood Acres. Because several calls were coming into Kent County 911 cofirming a working fire, Leipsic (53) was added to the response. Chief Roy arrived on scene to report double-wide with fire showing. Engine 43-2 arrived shortly afterwards and put to hoses in service through the front door. Rescue 43 arrived and laid in from a secondary hydrant because the one closest was not working. The fire severely damaged several rooms in the home. After the fire was extinguished and units were clearing......... a second structure fire was reported on Shaws Corner Road near Kenton. Engine 44-4 (Smryna) was standing by at Cheswold for the original fire and responded immediately. Cheswold units quickly got their crews together and left Pinewood Acres. 44-4 arrived to find a single-story home with a chimney fire that had extended into the wall and attic. The fire was quickly extinguished and the smoke and debris removed from the home. Pinewood Acres-Engines 43-2, 43-3, 43-4, Rescue 43, Ambulances B-43 & B-64, and two engines from 53. Chief Roy had command. Shaws Corner Road-Engines 43-2, 43-3, 43-4, Rescue 43, Ambulance B-43, & Engine 44-4. Deputy Chief Brown had command.
