The Kent County Special Operations Team (headquartered at Cheswold) was alerted to assist the Volunteer Hose Company of Middletown on a trench rescue to back up the New Castle County team. The team spent about 6 hours on scene and assisted with digging operations that eventually located and removed a deceased patient. The Hartly Fire Company was also dispatched as part of the team response and set up their rehab equipment to assist with hydration and cooling of the responders. Leipsic Fire Company recently took responsibility for our trench rescue trailer and also responded with that unit. Our condolences to the family of the victim in this tragic accident.
