MVC With Double Entrapment - Seven Hickories Road

Thursday, July 2, 2015
Cheswold Fire Company, Kent County Paramedics, and the DSP Helicopter were dispatched to a serious accident in fron of John's Well Service on Seven Hickories Road shortly after 7 am. Ambulance A-43 arrived and requested a second ambulance and Ambulance 64 (Smyrna) was sent since they were nearby returning from another run. Both DSP Helicopters advised that they would not respond due to weather conditions. Command 43 arrived shortly after the ambulance and advised that there were two vehicles involved with one person trapped in each one. Command ordered the crew of Rescue 43 to split to begin work on both vehicles. Both vehicles had sustained heavy damage and were going to require extensive work so Command requested a second rescue truck and Hartly was sent. Both victims were freed and transported by Cheswold and Smyrna. The scene was turned over to DSP for investigative purposes and Cheswold cleared. Units: Ambulance A-43, Command 43, Rescue 43, Engine 43-4, Brush 43-0, Ambulance B-64, Medic KM 6, Medic KM 5, and Rescue 51. Assistant Chief Dempsey had command.
