Around 1:30, Cheswold was dispatched to stand by at Dover Fire Department station 2 while they battled a fire at the landmark Kirby & Holloway Restaurant. Ambulance B-43 was requested to the scene to stand by in case of injuries. Engine 43-4 responded with 5 members and arrived at Dover's station shortly thereafter. About 10 minutes later, the Incident Commander at the fire scene ordered the evacuation of the building due to worsening fire conditions and requested 43-4 to the scene along with the engine from Little Creek that was covering their main station. Engine 43-4 arrived on scene and the crew was eventually assigned to enter through the front doors to extinguish the fire once is was deemed safe for crews to reenter. Our crew was released from the scene around 4:15 am.
